Sky gets Welsh soccer deal

The Football Association of Wales has awarded TV rights to all international football - including home qualifiers for World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 - to Sky Sports.

The four-year deal will start in August 2004 and continue until July 2008 with coverage shown across Wales and throughout the UK and Ireland.
The first exclusively live international under the deal will be Wales' FIFA World Cup Qualifying Group match with Northern Ireland on September 8.
Under the deal, Sky Sports will also show all friendly internationals played at home live and extend its live coverage to at least two Under-21 internationals each season. In addition, Sky Sports will hold the rights to the FAW Welsh Cup and Welsh Premier League and will follow these competitions on the 24-hour news service Sky Sports News.
