The A1 Grand Prix Championship was unveiled this week in Dubai. It is scheduled to run during the winter months; outside of the Formula One season.
Richard Dorfman, the former Prisma and KirchSport executive who more recently helped advise the English Football Association on its TV rights, has been hired as its commercial director.
The new series will pit 30 one-make cars compete in venues across the world. Stops on the first season will include Australia, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Malaysia, China, and South Africa.
The FIA, the sport’s governing body, has sanctioned the event.
