Texas and NASCAR in talks

NASCAR is reportedly on the verge of awarding the Texas Motor Speedway a second lucrative Nextel Cup race – despite the two being locked in a legal dispute.

Track shareholder Francis Ferko has sued the US motorsport after initially turning down a request for a second race; but according to US reports, his attorney has said a settlement could see the second race added, prior to the case going to court.
Details of the lawsuit are being kept secret but a NASCAR spokesman confirmed talks were taking place that he hoped the issue ‘was put behind us’.
The dispute over the awarding of a second race has been raging for some while – with track chiefs saying NASCAR promised a second Nextel Race – a claims denied by the motorsport.
