Blue Tuna fishes for business

A new live webcasting system is being directed at sports rights-holders.

London-based digital media agency, Blue Tuna, says its new XStream Live allows events to be streamed live from any location via satellite.

The end-to-end solution is focused at content producers and sport rights-holders ‘seeking a new, cost-effective distribution platform’.

Said Blue Tuna’s CEO Steve Katz: “As with television outside broadcasts, one of the challenges faced by webcasting an event live is connectivity – delivering the signal back to a network. In the past we have frequently relied on ISDN and other fixed line connections. These are expensive to install for one-off projects and often struggle to support the data rates needed for broadband streaming.”

The XStream Live solution utilises IP Over Satellite technology, allowing the webcast to be uplinked at a constant data rate of approximately 400kbps. Blue Tuna says with combination of its broadcast experience, it can create a complete service for content providers.

Blue Tuna have already successfully provided the solution for online bookmaker Blue Square during a recent live racing webcast.
