FGG co-president Roberto Mantaci and Kathleen Webster took part in the ceremony and to enjoy a weekend of special events to mark Chicago’s success in hosting the event.
Chicago were drafted in just weeks ago after original host Montreal split with the FGG after a row over budgets. Montreal has vowed to organise its own, rival, event without the backing of the FGG.
Said Kevin Boyer, Chicago Games, Inc. (CGI) spokesman: “We understood from the moment we agreed to bid for the 2006 Gay Games that the successful negotiation of a license agreement would mark our first step as official host of Gay Games VII.
“Both the FGG and ourselves are committed to a financially successful event that continues the legacy of the Gay Games.”
