Italian clubs' tax threat

Tagged in , &

Italian soccer clubs have been told to get their tax affairs into order – or risk being kicked out of the league.

After a major probe into tax irregularities, Italian soccer league boss Andriano Galliani has warned any club failing to pay their tax arrears faces the toughest of penalties.
Quoted in the Italian media, Galliani said: “The clubs will have time to put things in order but if they don't there will be injuries and perhaps even a few deaths."
According to reports, clubs owe close to EUR509m in unpaid tax for the past three years.
Major names such as AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are among a number of clubs who are fully up-to-date with payments, according to Italian reports.
