The New Democracy party swept to power, over-turning the ruling Socialists.
Now reports in the Greek media suggest Angelopoulos-Daskalaki is in line for a newly-created post responsible for the preparations of the Olympics.
The new government has dismissed any fears that a change in the ruling party will further delay plans for the Athens Games.
Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki – head of the local organising committee for the Athens Olympic Games – is expected to land a new government role, following the Greek elections at the weekend.
