Hammonds strengthen sports side

UK law firm Hammonds has appointed two partners from Olswang: EU and competition law partner, Alasdair Bell, and sports and advertising/marketing law partner Louise Quinn.

Alasdair Bell has over ten years of experience in EU & competition law, having worked in Brussels and London for White & Case.

Bell also has strong links with international sports bodies and has dealt with some of the leading EU competition law cases concerning football, which dovetails well with Hammonds' leading sports law practice.

Louise Quinn will join Hammonds' Commercial & IP department, which is headed by Andrew Clay and which incorporates Jonathan Taylor's Sports Group. Quinn specialises in sports law and advertising/marketing law and has extensive experience of advising on the acquisition and exploitation of media and commercial rights to major sporting assets. This includes negotiation of media rights, agency, sponsorship and naming rights agreements, official supplier and merchandising agreements and the development and implementation of anti-ambush marketing strategies.

Said Jonathan Taylor, head of Hammonds' Sports Group: "Louise has built a strong reputation and client base in the sports sector in recent years and is a worthy addition to our team. Coupled with Alasdair's experience and experience in EC law and sport, these two appointments consolidate and confirm Hammonds' Sports Group’s pre-eminent position in the sports sector."
