The renewal will ensure McDonald’s remains the official restaurant of the Games in Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and for the Summer Games of 2012.
It is the first time McDonald’s has renewed its sponsorship for four consecutive Olympic Games.
McDonald’s will continue its position as a TOP sponsor alongside the likes of Coca-Cola, Atos Origin (formerly Schlumberger), General Electric, John Hancock, Kodak, Panasonic, Samsung, Swatch and Visa.
Said IOC president Jacques Rogge: “We are delighted that our partnership with McDonald’s will carry on for the next two quadrennial and believe this long-term agreement is a reflection of their confidence in the Olympic Movement."
Said Jim Cantalupo, McDonald’s chairman and CEO: “McDonald’s has been a proud Olympic partner for nearly three decades because we believe in the spirit and ideals of the Games. As a worldwide brand serving 47 million customers every day, we share the same core principles of teamwork and excellence.”
