Liverpool set for Thai bid?

English Premier League club Liverpool is being linked with a takeover bid by a leading politician in Asia.

According to weekend reports, the billionaire Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is currently considering whether to make a move on the club.

He is believed to have previous made a move on rival club Fulham.

Thawatchai Satchakul, manager of the Thai national team, is quoted as saying: “I believe the prime minister already had his aides checking Liverpool's financial position in the past four to five months.

"He is now in the process of deciding whether to bid for Liverpool."

Over the weekend, the prime minister had said he was still keen to buy a Premier League club, but declined to elaborate on what clubs he was looking at.
