SRI collapse boosts rivals

Artificial turf firm Avery Sports says it expects no adverse effects from the recent bankruptcy filing of rival firm SRI Sports.

SRI Sports, the maker of AstroTurf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week.

Said a spokesman for Avery: “This event may increase demand for the company's products and boost margins, as sports venues scramble to find a replacement supplier such as Avery for their near-term installations."
SRI’s collapse has left the likes of the Minnesota Twins wondering what happens next; the firm was due to fit a new AstroPlay field ready for the Twins’ home opener on April 5.
