Global Sportnet, the WPP-owned German agency, and Narrowstep, the London-based company behind the recent success launch of action sport broadband channel High.tv, and launching Global Sport TV.
The new venture promises to offer clubs, leagues, federations and rights holders a powerful and cost efficient platform to run and control all mobile, internet, broadband and broadcast content distribution.
The system will enable live, video-on-deman, archive, search and electronic programme guide services, enabling sport organisations to easily build their own TV-channels and distribute them globally on the internet or on traditional broadcast media channels. The service also enables them to build and distribute mobile video services.
Says Thomas Martens, CEO of Global Sportnet: “We are convinced that this platform will help all operators generate significant income streams from primary, secondary and tertiary rights.”
Added Narrowstep CEO Iolo Jones: “We have proven that we can deliver a remarkable TV-quality service globally from a centralised source and significantly improve the management, distribution and commercialisation of rights.”
