City chiefs approved a plan to raise the existing number of 18 games per season to 30 by 2006. The games will be phased in over the seasons, with 22 in 2004, 26 in 2005 and 30 in 2006.
The Cubs said the move would enhance revenue generation, while opponents objected to increased noise and disturbance.
However, part of the approval requires the Cubs to up spending in clamping down on congestion and litter for residents in the area.
As expected, the Chicago Cubs have been given permission to increase the number of night games staged at Wrigley Field.
