Ketchum exec joins M&C Saatchi

Steve Martin, the former global PR manager for adidas-Salomon, and director of the Ketchum Sports Network, has been appointed managing director of M&C Saatchi Sponsorship.

Martin will quit Ketchum once he has fulfilled current committments, and will report to M&C Saatchi joint chief executive Nick Hurrell, who is also chairman of M&C Saatchi Sponsorship.

Said Martin: "Sponsorship is a discipline which is often misunderstood or under utilised and we will be making every effort to show that it can be an effective and measurable part of the marketing mix."

Martin joined Ketchum in 2001 to set up the agency’s sports sponsorship division, working on clients such as Pepsi, adidas, Carlsberg, Kodak, Orange, adidas TaylorMade golf, The Grand Slam Tennis Committee and Lloyds TSB.

M&C Saatchi Sponsorship clients include Benson & Hedges in Formula One, Morgan Stanley, Travelex and Lucozade Sport.
