Cubs hope for night shift

The Chicago Cubs look set to win permission to stage more night games at Wrigley Field this week.

City chiefs will vote later this week on proposals to see 12 more night games played over the next three years - building on the existing 18 games played under floodlight each season. The additional games would be phased in over the three years.

The Cubs say the move to more evening games presents more revenue generating opportunities.

However, opponents point to increased traffic and noise.

A final decision is expected after a city council vote on Wednesday.
