The huge test for Greek security and emergency services is reported to have beeen one of the biggest ever security exercises on mainland Europe, involving thousands of people.
The exercise centred around an 'explosion' at a main railway station and the release of nerve gas.
Athens is particularly aware of its position as a potential terrorist target, and has promised massive investment in security to ensure the event runs smoothly in what will be the biggest security operation ever staged around an Olympic Games.
