The club, struggling beneath an £80m debt mountain, have until today to convince creditors they can survive. Failure to do so will see the club go into administration.
The club is currently bottom of the league and has been staging talks with a number of possible groups about a rescue bid – including a consortium of local businessmen.
The club has said it needs £5m to ensure survival until the end of the season, but was anxious not to sell its best talent in a quick fix, and thereby increasing chances of relegation.
Said CEO Trevor Birch: "We stand by our belief that it is in the best interest of the club and all parties that we maintain our strength and fight for our Premiership survival rather than endure the short-term benefit of cash generated from player sales."
Struggling English Premier League club Leeds United say they are hopeful of a deal today which will see them through until the end of the season.
