Kia serves up global deal

Motor manufacturer Kia has boosted its existing sponsorship of tennis’ Davis Cup competition with a major new multi-million dollar deal.

Kia Motors says it is ‘reinforcing’ its current arrangement with the ITF ahead of the launch of two new cars later this year.

Kia was already a sponsor of the Davis Cup in the Europe-Africa zones, after agreeing an original deal which kicked in during the 2003 season.

Now, however, it has become a global sponsor of the event. For 2004 it will also be the official car of the tournament.

Said Kia Motors chief operating officer, Yong-Hwan Kim: “The expansion of our agreement with the ITF represents another step in aligning the Kia brand with the sport of tennis.

“Kia is establishing itself with a young, sporty, friendly and active brand.”
