X marks the spot for networks

Interest in action sports shows no sign of diminishing after the latest TV ratings showed average viewing figures for the Winter X Games in Aspen earlier this month had soared.

According to the latest TV ratings from Nielsen, the average figure across ABC Sports, ESPN and ESPN2, beat last year’s household average by 30 percent. The average figure was 535,523 for 2004, compared to 412,673 in 2003.

The news will be a boost to the networks who beamed the majority of action live for the first time.
