Racehorse millionaires JP McManus and John Magnier have demanded an independent audit into monies paid to agents for a number of deals – and submitted a list of 99 questions to the club.
The duo – who have fallen out with club manager Alex Ferguson over the ownership of a racehorse – own just over 25 percent of the club through their Cubic Expression company.
United CEO David Gill – who replaced Peter Kenyon when he quit to join rivals Chelsea last year – has vowed to conduct an internal review into the deals in question in a bid to defuse the row.
McManus and Magnier have already tried to stop Ferguson being given a new contract – although he was handed a new one-year rolling deal earlier this week.
The letter with the questions has been linked to a number of major news organisations, including the BBC
