The Indy Racing League has reached a safety team sponsorship agreement with Delphi Corp., a company that makes automotive safety systems.
The sponsorship is the first of its kind for the league and designates Delphi as the official safety supplier to the IRL.
The move comes following a number of high profile tragedies to afflict the US motor racing industry in terms of fatal crashes.
