Rugby League World Cup in 2008?

The Rugby League World Cup looks set to be revived after the sport's governing body announced its intention to stage the tournament in Australia in 2008.

The Rugby League International Federation's decision to revive the World Cup is the highlight of a programme of events planned to promote the game across the world over the next few years.
"Given the progress being made, we are extremely optimistic about the World up," said RLIF chairman Colin Love.
"There's plenty of talent outside Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand."
A Tri-Nations tournament will be staged at the end of 2004, with a similar event for "developing players" proposed for New Zealand later this year.
