Indian cities battle for F1

A battle is heating up between two Indian cities as to which will stage the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix in the region.

According to reports, Mumbai is poised to snatch the F1 Grand Prix, set for 2007, from under the nose of much-hyped potential host Hyderabad.
Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will meet with representatives of the pinnacle of motor sports in Mumbai this week.
"They have informed us that they will be coming next week for discussions with me," Shinde stated.
Hyderabad had been favourite to land F1 racing from 2007 however Bernie Ecclestone, the 73-year-old boss of F1, called off a meeting with Hyderabad officials earlier this month scheduled to discuss the potential Indian GP.
