Infront has secured an exclusive deal with RTE for the Irish broadcast rights for the event. The national broadcaster also held the TV rights for the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan.
The RTC deal follows a series of recent announcements from Infront regarding the television coverage of the next FIFA World Cup, including with Holland, Hong Kong, Indonesia and the territories of Sub Saharan Africa.
Said Oscar Frei, Infront CEO: "We are now well advanced on the distribution plan for the 2006 event and the major European markets are showing tremendous interest in the forthcoming event which - because it takes place in Germany in the same time zone - will provide a great opportunity to build and consolidate audiences. We are delighted to be working with RTC, a national broadcaster, who will deliver the maximum audience."
Added Niall Cogley, RTC head of sport: "We're very pleased to announce full coverage for our viewers of the next World Cup. Germany 2006 promises to be an exciting tournament, and will once again be a huge undertaking for RTC, which we look forward to immensely."
