Sportsmedia Rio 2004 postponed

The organisers of the Sportsmedia Rio conference, scheduled for next month, have issued a statement postponing the event by a year.

The Sportsmedia event in Rio de Janeiro had been scheduled for February 12-13 this year but the market will now take place between February 24-25, 2005.
In a media statement, the organisers announced: "Although most of the domestic and international participants from 2003 reconfirmed their presence, we could not make sure to reach our target of doubling the number of participants in this 2nd edition. This is partly due to the South American market which is recovering currently, lead by the Brazilian economy but not sufficiently yet.
"Also the announcement of another sports-rights market at almost the same time in South America confused the market. All this together with the recent problems of Brazilian immigration policy for US-American travellers lead us to this decision in spite of encouraging messages from all over the world."
Sportsmedia Rio will be issuing reimbursements for those delegates who have already paid up to attend this year's market.
