England tour of Zimbabwe in doubt

The England cricket team's proposed tour of Zimbabwe later this year is looking increasingly under threat as the political pressure on the England and Wales Cricket Board grows.

The England and Wales Cricket Board will decide whether the tour, which is scheduled for October of this year, should go ahead at a meeting next week.
The governing body must first discuss a 17-page document submitted by one of their senior members, Des Wilson, outlining serious concerns and moral objections to the tour.
Wilson, the chairman of the ECB's corporate affairs committee, however has insisted that the decision is not his to make.
He stated: "This is the management board's decision, not mine. I am merely suggesting the factors they should take into account. It is by no means an open and shut case."
The Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) has already called on ECB chairman David Morgan to honour an earlier commitment to tour.
Said ZCU chairman Peter Chingoka: "There has been no formal advice from the ECB to clarify the matter. We expect that the tour will go ahead."
