Adu gets fizzy

US teen soccer sensation Freddy Adu has signed a two-year endorsement deal with Sierra Mist, one of Pepsi-Cola’s brands.

Adu, the youngest player in Major League Soccer, has teamed up with the brand – already official soft drink of the league – and will become a spokesman for its youth programme initiatives, as well as other marketing plans.

Said John Galloway, director of sports marketing, Pepsi-Cola North America: "His exciting play, youthful spirit and active lifestyle make him a perfect fit for Sierra Mist. We are thrilled to be working with him at the beginning of what promises to be an incredible career."

Adu, originally from Ghana, became a US citizen last year – and is hailed as one of the sport’s brightest new prospects.
