Hawks get IMG's Jolly

Martin Jolly, managing director of IMG in Australia and New Zealand, has joined AFL club Hawthorn as vice president for the 2004 season.

Jolly, who has held the IMG position for the past seven years, will replace Ivan Moore who did not stand for re-election as the Hawthorn board met last night.

Jolly, 40, has been a director on the Hawthorn FC board since 1996 when he was invited to join following the failed merger bid with Melbourne FC.

His responsibilities since then have concentrated on the marketing and sponsorship areas of the club. The club says Jolly has played a ‘significant role’ in attracting sponsorship to the Hawks during his tenure.

Said Jolly: “To be elected as vice-president is an absolute honour.”

He has worked for IMG for 14 years, first as Victorian sales and business manager and later graduating to general manager of Victoria.

Before IMG, he spent five years with the Channel Seven network in its sports and advertising division.

The position of vice-president is elected each year by directors in the first meeting of the board after the AGM.
