JV gets on property ladder

A new joint venture has been signed to provide bespoke property management investment opportunities for top sport stars.

High net worth property investment firm Active Asset Investment Management Limited (aAIM), has teamed up with sports marketing firm Opus Management to provide the service.
Opus Management will introduce its sports and entertainment clients as investors to aAIM under the terms of the partnership.
Founded by London City financier, Mark Tagliaferri, and property entrepreneurs, Robert Whitton and Robert Kanerick, aAIM invests in large commercial property investments on behalf of syndicates of wealthy individuals, many of whom are from the world of sport, particularly football. Investors to date have included Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Leeds United’s Alan Smith.
Opus Management was founded in August 2003 by Paul McCaughey.
McCaughey was until recently COO of Base Group Plc, one of the largest sports management agents in the UK with more than 120 clients under management, including Terry Venables and Harry Kewell.
Prior to this, he was head of the UK football business at adidas UK Ltd, where he worked from the late 1980’s to 1998.
Said McCaughey: “During the research phase of Opus Management, feedback from clients strongly suggested that they wanted to have a high degree of personal involvement in the property selection process. However, the need for protection against capital risk was equally prominent on their wish lists. Having reviewed many of the UK’s leading specialist funds, I felt the management team at aAIM demonstrated considerable expertise in financial engineering and a strong track-record in delivering suitable property investments.
”I am very excited about the partnership and confident that the combined forces of Opus Management and aAIM will deliver top-class investor returns for our clients.”
