At a meeting of the European Olympic Committees Rogge stated: "of course, Turin is known in Piedmont, but these are not the Games of Turin or Piedmont. These are the Games of all of Italy."
However Rogge also praised Turin’s organising committee, citing progress in construction, marketing, financing, communication and television arrangements.
He added: "Turin will be a great success. The organizers are of high calibre."
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has warned the Turin 2006 organising committee that it needs to improve the promotion of the Winter Games throughout Italy.
