WUSA set for return?

A meeting will be held today with a view to reviving women’s soccer league the WUSA by 2005.

Top officials will discuss proposals for the league, which folded earlier this year due to lack of commercial funding, and say they are ‘optimistic’ sufficient sponsorship will be found to allow a rebirth.
Said WUSA commissioner Tony DiCicco: “We're looking at all our options, pounding the sponsorship pavement.
“We're pretty optimistic, but time will tell.
“For 2004, we're really looking to do less, but keep the brand name alive and out there in the public. We can put collected revenues toward a full season in 2005 that would be back to an 2003 level.''
