Serena – who with her sister Venus has dominated women’s tennis in recent years – is said to be close to signing a deal worth between $60-100m deal with sportswear giant Nike.
The deal is understood to be for five-years with a three-year extension built in.
The deal for shoes and clothing will replace her existing contract with Puma and give her the chance to design a range of Williams-branded sportswear.
The news comes just months after it was believed Puma was on the verge of re-signing Williams with a similiar big money deal.
