Rights holder Dorna reports a four percent rise in weekend crowds over 2002 – with a total of 1.7m spectators turning out trackside.
The increase represents an average of almost 70,000 people attended each of the events.
The biggest rises were at the Cinzano British Grand Prix at Donington Park, with a 18 percent increase on race-day and a total of over 107,000 fans for the weekend and the Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring, which welcomed a season record of 204,000 – ten percent more than the previous year.
Race-day crowds soared over the season, with a total increase of 144,000 fans representing a 15 percent rise on 2002.
One of the highest race-day increases was at the Gran Premio Cinzano d'Italia, where a crowd of 73,000 enjoyed Ducati's return to Grand Prix racing and an historic all-Italian home podium of Valentino Rossi, Loris Capirossi and Max Biaggi.
