Zuehlsdorff, a former chief of the haircare group Wella, told a news conference following his appointment, "we want Leipzig to be accepted again as a bidder by everyone."
Other appointments to the supervisory board include the former Prime Minister of Baden-Wuertemberg, Lothar Spaeth, and the president of Stifterverbandes der Deutschen Wirtschaft, Arend Oetker.
Additionally a report was released that cleared Leipzig's Mayor Wolfgang Tiefensee and Saxon Premier Georg Milbrant of any wrongdoing related to financial irregularities in the Olympic bid.
Germany’s Olympic Committee has appointed Peter Zuehlsdorff as the new head of Leipzig’s 2012 Olympic bid after the previous chief stepped down over allegations he had worked for the former East German Stasi secret police.
