CAT plays with NHL

Specialist online games developer CAT Games has finalised an agreement with the NHL to launch an updated version of its ice hockey management game.

SeniorLeagueHockey.com, which already has 100,000 registered users, will now become the ‘premier online management game’ of the NHL and will be linked directly from the sport’s official website.

In addition to the agreement with the NHL, SeniorLeagueHockey.com has concluded a ‘substantial’, exclusive sponsorship agreement with the NHL's official wireless sponsor, cellular phone giant Nextel.

Said Jeffrey Lee, marketing director of CAT Games: "As a young, innovative British company, it is a great privilege to partner with an organisation like the NHL, which is undoubtedly one of the major leagues in world sport. At the request of the NHL, we tried to give the game some of the same humour and playability as SundayLeague but tailored for the hockey market. It seems that with the number of managers increasing so rapidly, that we have succeeded in doing that."

Since its link up with SeniorLeagueHockey.com, NHL.com's off-season traffic has risen in excess of 40 percent, says the firm.
