Cipolla to head up new ESPN arm

ESPN has named Steve Cipolla vice president and general manager of the newly formed ESPN Consumer Products group.

The group is held within ESPN Enterprises, the company's division dedicated to utilizing ESPN brands and assets to develop new products and businesses.
Cipolla will be responsible for the overall operation of ESPN Consumer Products, including the development of comprehensive brand strategies, setting creative direction, negotiating licensee agreements, and managing and developing retail relationships.
He will report to Rick Alessandri, senior vice president and general manager, ESPN Enterprises and Consumer Products.
Cipolla has more than 20 years of professional experience in the consumer products industry, most recently with theBRANDexperience, Balducci's Direct Marketing and The Walt Disney Company.
"Steve's expertise and proven track record in growing brands is an asset as we expand our products business to new consumers," Alessandri said.
"His tremendous wealth of experience in the industry, ranging from entertainment to children's properties, will be an advantage in marketing our newest venture inside and outside the sports industry."
