NFL owners voted in favour of the Arizona bid Washington and Tampa. The New York bid was pulled earlier this month.
The game will be played at a new $355m stadium due to open in 2006.
Said Arizona Cardinals vice president Michael Bidwill: “This is something that's an economic impact to the whole state of Arizona.
"It's a great day for Arizona and we should celebrate."
As expected, Arizona has won the right to stage the NFL’s 2008 Super Bowl.
