Al Fayed denies Thai talk

Mohamed Al Fayed (pictured), owner of English Premier League soccer club Fulham, has denied he has any plans to sell the team – despite reports linking the prime minister of Thailand with a possible takeover bid.

Reports yesterday suggested Thaksin Shinawatra, the Thai prime minister – and a billionaire – was looking to make a move on the club which has out performed expectation this season and currently lie fifth in the table.

Said Al Fayed: “The way Fulham are playing at the moment I can quite understand why it may be an attractive proposition to some people in football.
"But this is a club I love passionately and I have no intention of selling it nor would I think about discussing offers."
A spokesman for Thaksin also denied any business move was imminent – suggesting his recent trip to watch Fulham play was to foster links between Thai players and the Premiership outfit.
