UEFA gets Real

Digital media specialist RealNetworks has signed a new deal with UEFA for coverage of its Champions League tournament.

The deal covers UEFA’s new Action Pass which delivers highlights for each match, historic clips of classic games, and full match re-runs of all Champions League games. It also includes live audio commentaries of the top games.

RealNetworks is also working with UEFA to distribute the service to and through broadband ISPs outside the UK and Japan.

The service will be available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German.

UEFA and RealNetworks will work to make the service available in other languages through their partnership.

Said Alexandre Fourtoy, chief executive of UEFA New Media: "Our new service brings UEFA Champions League football to fans at their own convenience. They can choose when they want to watch a goal or match highlights or even a whole match rerun whenever they want. Our unique digital video library based in Nyon and London allows users to browse an extensive archive of classic UEFA Champions League action and relive their favourite moments whenever they want."
