World Series still on the up

TV ratings for Game 2 of the World Series between the New York Yankees and the Florida Marlins continued the upward trend set in the series opener.

Sunday night's Game 2 of the Series, which saw the Yankees level the series at 1-1, posted a national rating of 12.6 with a 20 share for Fox Sports, up 6 percent over last year's rating of 11.9 and 20 share.
For the first two games, this World Series has averaged an 11.7 rating and 20 share, up 9 percent over last year's 10.7 and 19 share for Anaheim and San Francisco.
It marks the first time since 1999 that ratings for the first two games have gone up.
Some TV executives predicted ratings would fall when Florida advanced to the Series, given that the upstart Marlins were virtual unknowns when the playoffs began.
The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, even if they are not in use. Each rating point represents 1,084,000 homes.
