S2 sets sail with BPUK

S2 Marketing has been recruited as PR agency for Volvo Ocean Race syndicate Boating Partners UK (BPUK).

The syndicate has been formed to package, sell and organise corporate promotional programmes on the back of the race.

BPUK’s first campaign will be the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006.

S2 will help BPUK sell sponsorship and, once a title sponsor is secured, raise awareness of the brand’s involvement and the progress of the team before, during and after the race itself.

Said S2 Marketing’s account director, Angus Macdonald: “The Volvo Ocean Race is the Formula 1 of yacht racing and S2 Marketing is thrilled to be part of the Boating Partners team. We intend to play an important role in enabling them to win both on and off the water. We believe that they are bringing a fresh view on all aspects of the Volvo Ocean Race, uninhibited by pre-conceived ideas and with the intention to win in style,”

Staged every four years, the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 is due to start on November 5, 2005 from a southern European port to be announced later this year. The course will take the fleet to Cape Town, Melbourne, New Zealand, Rio de Janeiro, Baltimore, New York, Southampton and Gothenburg before finishing in the Baltic in June 2006.
