The deal will see a game played at the Marrara Oval in Darwin for the first time.
Said AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou: “It is with great pleasure the Northern Territory government and the AFL can announce today that we have reached an agreement that is not just about playing a football match in Darwin, but will enable us to continue to develop and promote AFL football at all levels through the Northern Territory.
"The Northern Territory boasts a participation rate of more than 20 per cent among five to 39 year-olds - the highest level of any state or territory in Australia.”
Demetriou said the Western Bulldogs will host Port Adelaide at Marrara Oval in a night game in Round 20 on Saturday August 14, meaning matches will be played in every state and territory in the one season for the first time.
The AFL will boast premiership games in every state and territory of Australia next year after signing a deal with the Northern Territory government.
