New Traffic drives into US

US soccer marketing company Inter Forever Sports has been taken over by Brazilian firm Traffic – and has changed its name.

The firm is now known as Traffic Sports USA, and is wholly owned by Traffic Marketing Esportivo.

The deal reinforces the Traffic Group’s position as one of the leading soccer-focused sports marketing firms.

Traffic now owns most of the premier soccer properties in the Americas, among them rights to most of the South American FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifiers, TV rights outside of the Americas for the Copa Libertodores, all rights to the Copa America in Peru 2004, and player representation for the likes of Brazilian star Ronaldo.

The new management structure see Julio Mariz, as president – formerly executive director of TV Globo Sports; Fabio Tordin, as CEO – formerly finance director of Traffic Marketing Esportivo in Brazil; Aaron Davidson, VP, sales & marketing – formerly commercial director of Tour de las Americas; Enrique Sanz, VP television – formerly VP of Inter Forever Sports; and Miguel Trujillo, VP, Central America – formerly VP of Inter Forever Sports.

Davidson will continue to be associated with the Tour de las Americas – the Latin American PGA Tour – as a board member and share holder.
