British Eurosport attracted a peak audience of 431,000 viewers to its live coverage of the game - the the third highest such audience in the channel's history.
In total, over 1 million viewers tuned in to the match from the St Mary’s stadium which ended in a 1-1 scoreline.
The match also had an average audience of just under 300,000.
Pierre-Jean Sebert, managing director of British Eurosport, commented: "These figures underline British Eurosport’s ability to attract big audiences for top quality matches. UK viewers are now becoming increasingly aware that the channel is home to a wide range of top class European football and this can only bode well for the future.
"The results also prove the massive benefit of our close relationship with Southampton FC in the promotional build-up to the game."
Last week's UEFA Cup tie between Southampton and Romanian side Steaua Bucharest brought British Eurosport its highest peak audience of the year.
