NASCAR drives new DVDs

NASCAR has signed a multi-year distribution deal for DVDs and home videos.

It has teamed up with Los Angeles-based Melee Entertainment, in conjunction with DreamWorks Records, to market and distribute NASCAR Images DVDs and video, in a deal brokered by the Wasserman Media Group.
The deal marks the first time official NASCAR DVDs and videos will be widely available through major retailers.
The first release is a two-disc set - NASCAR Winston Cup 2002 - a round-up of last season and on sale next month.

Said NASCAR Images president Jay Abraham: "This agreement between NASCAR Images and Melee Entertainment represents a major opportunity for the broad-scale distribution of NASCAR entertainment products.

"By partnering with Melee, NASCAR and NASCAR Images will be able to reach both the hardcore and casual fans of the sport at the most convenient locations."

NASCAR Images - a joint venture co-owned by NASCAR Digital Entertainment and Fox Cable Networks and the exclusive licensee of NASCAR event footage - has embarked upon a long-term programme that will eventually see the release each racing season of four to six videos.
