Parry wins London 2012 media role

Experienced Olympic journalist Steve Parry has been appointed as the media director for London's bid to host the 2012 Olympics.

Parry, who served 18 years as sports editor at press agency Reuters as well as two decades with the IOC press commission, will handle all media enquiries for the London bid.
The announcement of Parry's appointment by bid leader Barbara Cassani comes as she continues her search for a chief executive for the Olympic campaign.
According to press reports, both of the two short-listed candidates - Coca-Cola marketing executive Brendan Harris and lawyer Jonathan Sykes - have now been ruled out following an interview process.
Cassani is slowly pulling her bid team together with Alan Pascoe and Seb Coe both joining as vice chairmen for the bid in recent days as well as the appointment of Michael Power as the campaign's chief operating officer. Marketing veteran Andrew Craig has also joined the team this week in a consultancy role.
As well as needing to fill the role of chief executive, Cassani is also on the look out for a communications director to round out her team.
