Channel Five extends V8 deal

UK free-to-air network Five has renewed the Australian V8 Supercar motor racing series for 2004.

The new deal, announced during this week's Sportel market in Monaco, extends coverage for a third consecutive season.

Says Five controller of sport, Robert Charles: "The V8s are one of our most popular sports and next year the series will race in Shanghai for the first time which should be interesting.

“We’re delighted to be screening the V8 Supercars in season 2004, there’s no doubt the Aussies drive a hard race which is great for TV viewers.”

The agreement was put together by rights owner Avesco's exclusive international television representative ActiveTV.
