NASCAR's new Canada TV deal

NASCAR has signed a Canadian TV deal with privately held broadcaster Craig Media.

The two-year deal will begin with live coverage of the 2004 Daytona 500 in February, and will feature all of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series telecasts on NBC.
Craig Media will broadcast the series in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba. Relationships with existing Canadian broadcast partners will continue as NASCAR strives to reach a greater audience within the country.

Said Craig Media vice president, programming, Michael Taylor: “NASCAR is the number one rated motorsport in Canada, so we are pleased to add the NBC network telecasts including the Daytona 500 to our already high profile lineup of US network simulcast sports programming, which includes ABC's Monday Night Football and The World Series on Fox.”

Craig Media terrestrial stations include: TORONTO 1, A-Channel Edmonton, A-Channel Calgary and A-Channel Manitoba.
