Following the 111th Annual Congress of the International Rowing Federation (FISA), it was decided that Munich would host the 2007 World Championships at its Olympic regatta course on the outskirts of the city.
The German city beat off competition from four other cities to land the championships, heading off the French town of Aiguebelette by 86 to 69 votes in the final ballot.
Elsewhere during the congress, FISA accepted Iran, Mozambique and Niger as new members bringing its total membership up to 118 countries.
Germany has won the race to host the 2007 World Rowing Championships.
