Heitzler and CART had been locked in a messy legal battle since last year when CART filed a federal suit claiming Heitzler had entered contracts on CART’s behalf without board approval.
CART was then hit with a suit from Heitzler claiming breach of contract, and demanding more than $2m in compensation.
However, CART has now confirmed all suits have now been settled. The terms of which have not been revealed.
Heitzler is currently president and CEO of Grand, the promoter of two CART-sanctioned races in Mexico.
Said a CART statement: "According to CART's president and CEO Chris Pook, CART looks forward to working with Heitzler and Grand in the future."
Resolving legal action facing CART is seen as a crucial part of it clearing the way for a financial rescue package.
Open Wheel Racing Series has put a takeover bid before CART investors which is currently being considered.
It has offered to buy up stock for $.50 per share.
